Shirley Windmill in south London re-opens to public

London boasts a collection of five windmills, although only four are accessible to the general public.

Shirley Windmill, situated in Croydon and constructed in 1854, ceased its operations nearly four decades later. However, it has recently reopened its doors for monthly visits until October, marking the first full reopening since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Frank Paine, a tour guide with over 30 years of experience at the windmill, provides an exclusive glimpse into the inner workings of this Grade II listed tower mill.
